High-Pressure Well Control System

The Well Control System is one of the most critical safety systems on an oil and gas drilling rig. Its primary purpose is to prevent the uncontrolled flow of formation fluids (oil, gas, or water) from the wellbore to the surface, commonly known as a blowout. The system monitors well conditions, detects abnormal pressure changes, and enables the drilling crew to safely control and contain the well whenever formation pressure exceeds the hydrostatic pressure of the drilling fluid.

The well control system consists of specialized equipment, monitoring instruments, and operational procedures that work together to maintain well integrity throughout drilling, completion, and workover operations.
