



Rig Power Systems
The Rig Power System is the heart of an oil and gas drilling rig, providing the electrical and mechanical power required to operate all major rig equipment. It generates, distributes, controls, and monitors power for drilling, hoisting, rotating, circulating, lighting, safety systems, and auxiliary equipment.
Modern drilling rigs typically use diesel-electric power systems, where diesel engines drive generators that produce electricity. This electrical power is then distributed through switchgear and motor control systems to operate various motors and equipment across the rig. On some rigs, power may also be supplied from the utility grid or gas-powered generators.
